The planned Universal horror-comedy “Renfield”, which stars Nicolas Cage as the infamous vampire Dracula, has been given an R rating. Nicholas Hoult, an Emmy-winning comedian, and “Mad Max: Fury Road” actor, will play “Renfield”, Dracula’s lovelorn henchman, opposite Cage. Ben Schwartz from Parks and Recreation and Brandon Scott James, a regular on A Good Place, are among the comedy veterans who have been cast in the movie along with Oscar-nominated actors Shohreh Aghdashloo and Awkwafina. The movie’s plot will be set in motion by Awkwafina’s character, who will be the love interest of Hoult’s character “Renfield”.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) reportedly assigned “Renfield” an R-rating for its explicit content. According to the film-rating association, the film’s brutal violence, gore, graphic language, and sporadic drug usage, justifies the audience’s limitation. The film’s “Renfield” ratings imply that many of the defining characteristics of those works will be present in it and will be portrayed on the screen by its skilled cast of comedic and dramatic actors. It was written by some of the creative minds behind “Rick and Morty”, Invincible”, and The Walking Dead”.

Nicolas Cage about the movie

“I discovered the movie has a comedic, pop art attitude after I got a sense of where McKay intended to go”, according to the report saying, Cage. “This will be a pop-art Dracula, I reasoned. Great black-on-black Dracula by Warhol. This is quite Warhol-esque”. The well-liked actor continued, “I saw all these subtle gestures that are, by today’s standards, ‘over the top,’ and said that the original Nosferatu was some of his strongest influence.

Excepted story of the series

“Renfield”, which is set in contemporary New Orleans and stars Nicholas Hoult as the titular servant to Nicolas Cage’s Dracula, follows Rebecca Quincy, a traffic cop played by Awkwafina, as she tries to establish a new life. “Renfield” can stand out and breathe new life into the frequently-repeated story while also providing its jokes and intriguing performances among the sea of Bram Stoker adaptations. It’s unclear whether the film will be popular, but because Cage is slated to play one of the most recognizable horror icons in both literature and film, it might be another standout performance for the adored actor.
