There were no clues regarding the killer or even why she was killed. When it comes to the character, it is really difficult for Lauren to choose a character for her book. 

She did a lot of research about women who fought back against their attackers, but most of them were killed and she did not want Harper to be dead at the end or even before that so she had a hard time making up her mind about how this book will end.
