Saw 10: New Tobin Be – Starring Sequel

Saw is a franchise created by the Australian filmmakers James & L.Whannell, with nine feature films and additional media. The series tells the story of a fictional serial killer, Jigsaw, who gives people a chance to atone for their sins only if they follow his set of rules. There are various figures in each film who led the people on his game or were trying to apprehend him as well. Jigsaw has become an iconic horror villain in the horror movie industry and has influenced other franchises like Freddy Krueger. Now that 10 years have gone by since the first film was released and James & L.Whannell are wanting to give us something else from their franchise, there is no better time than now!

Exactly when will Saw 10 be released:

This series will be released on 27 October 2023. It is based on the events after the death of Jigsaw, due to being shot by Dr.Heather, which occurred in Saw IV, it is assumed that this movie will mark the passing of the torch from Tobin Bell to a new generation of characters and actors.

Saw, the ninth movie, there were many more death traps, targeting police officers. However, not many tears were shed as they were dirty cops. The main story focused on the game between two brothers, Seth and Adam. They had an abusive relationship with each other.  After Seth was kidnapped, he managed to make his brother play his game before Dr.Heather killed him with a shotgun on the roof of Michael’s shop, just like she did with Amanda in the previous movie. With the death of Jigsaw (again), we are wondering if this means that the Saw franchise will end or go the way of its rival series, “Friday 13th”, and have new people donning masks in each movie.

What inspired the director to write Saw 10?

The series is inspired by real-life events, according to James and L.Whannell. Jigsaw himself is based on several sources. In an interview, they confirmed he had been inspired by the exploits of John Wayne Gacy and Jeffery Dahmer. They were similar in that both gave their victims a chance to atone for their sins, albeit through murder rather than through altruism as Jigsaw does in the film series.

Will we see Doug from Saw VII joining this movie?

It was announced by the director Adam Green that we will unfortunately not be seeing Doug play a role in the coming movie due to it not focusing on him but instead having each character have their own story before they ultimately come together to help stop Dr.

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite character of Adam Green is Amanda Young because she is a lawyer. The reason that they liked this character was that it was hard for her to play bad characters and hard for the audience to feel bad for her. 

What will the tone of Saw 10 be?

In an interview, James & L.Whannell confirmed that Saw 10 will have a serious tone because the events are more real than in any other film in the series. They mentioned that in recent years, more real-life events have inspired them to make movies with more characters than blood and gore which could also affect their new movie.

How did the directors get Tobin Bell to participate in the movie?

It is confirmed that Tobin Bell will be returning to play the role of Jigsaw. In an interview, James & L.Whannell said “We have to put it out there right up front, Tobin Bell is the engine of our movies, and Jigsaw needs to be a part of our series. The Jigsaw piece wouldn’t work without him.” So we will be seeing Tobin Bell in all Saw movies from now on until he decides to retire from acting.

What themes does Saw 10 explore?

The themes of the movie are mainly about how real life can impact you and your relationships. James & L.Whannell have specifically mentioned that they want some of the material in this film to be raw and hard-hitting and they are trying to balance it out with a bit of humor here and there.
