Shawn Mendes And Camilla Cabello: How Did Their Beautiful Love Story Start?

The beautiful love story between Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello may have started as good friends, but these days #Shamila is one of pop music’s most talked-about couples. While there are some naysayers online who think it’s all about publicity, the two singers appear to be going strong.

Back in 2014

Cabello (as a member of Fifth Harmony) and Mendes meet while they are both opening acts for Austin Mahone’s tour. Cabello quoted to one of the magazines, “I remember thinking we met on the Austin Mahone tour, and I remember I wanted to hang out with you, but you were always on the tour bus, just learning guitar.”

On that Mendes replied,” Yeah! That was me. I didn’t talk to anybody. You were the only person that talked to me. Like, you were the only one of everybody on that tour who would say words to me. Actually, I think if we go into our DMs or something, there’s a photo from the day we met, I think.”

The progress in their Sweet “Love Story”

Camila Cabello was in the studio and needed a male voice to sing a song on her album. She contacted Mendes by DM, asking him if he could help her out with one of his songs.

Their “Love Story” took off from there as they started sending more messages back and forth through social media and phone calls but didn’t meet for months until that fateful night in 2017 at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The two have been inseparable ever since then. The couple has collaborated on music together, including their duet “Señorita” featured on Shawns most recent album “Shawn Mendes: Lost In Japan” which is only available digitally (released 2018). Things seemed to be going well for the two until Camila Cabello decided to leave Fifth Harmony.

• Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello met in an elevator at the 2016 Brit awards, Shawn was trying to get away from a horde of fans who were all screaming his name as he walked into the building. Camilla Cabello noticed Shaun’s distress and offered him her room key for safekeeping so that way he didn’t have to go back outside.
• They first became friends when Shawn went on tour with Camila but it wasn’t until two years later (2018) after Shawn returned home from touring that their relationship started becoming more serious. Shawn was sitting backstage at a Camila show in LA when he leaned over and kissed her. Shawn told fans on Twitter that they “knew it wasn’t going to be just friends”, proving their relationship is the real deal.
