The story begins with young Billy Batson living at a children’s home and running away from it. He is attacked by a criminal in the subway, who he fights off with magic words- “Shazam!”
RELEASE DATE:
The film is set to release in 2023, worldwide. Filming will be done in Toronto, Canada, and the product will last until May 2022.
THE PLOT OF SHAZAM: THE FURY OF THE GOD:
After the death of his mother, Billy Batson is living with a family who has little patience for him and he doesn’t care to spend any time at home anyways. One day when walking by an old building on the way back from school, he hears laughter coming from inside- the laughter of a young girl.
Intrigued, he enters the building and finds an old man with his back to him playing chess by himself. Billy asks if this is where Mary lives, but before getting a response from the man, three other men break in through the door demanding that they play their game now or else they will kill everyone inside this building.
Billy is terrified for the girl’s safety and before he can think about it, he yells out “Shazam!” As if by magic, his clothes turn into a suit of armor and he stands to fight off these thugs. Billy wakes up to find himself transformed into an adult hero. Alongside his three new fairy godmothers, Mary Marvel, Freddy Freeman, and Pedro Pena, Billy must try to figure out who he is and what his powers mean.
THE STARRING CAST: NEW AND RETURNING MEMBERS:
- Levi and Director David F. Sandberg have been open about their collaboration, but it is not clear whether he will work with the director on “Shazam!” or if he will be replaced by another actor until filming for that project began in the year April 2019.
- The film stars Zachary Levi as the adult hero Shazam, while Asher Angel plays Billy Batson at different stages of his life.
- Mark Strong portrays Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, with whom Billy battles in a showdown that will decide the fate of the world.
- Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Jack Dylan Grazer will play three of Billy’s friends from school who help him harness his new abilities when he transforms into Captain Marvel.
EXPECTATIONS OF THE AUDIENCE:
