With Stranger Things season 3 out of the way, it’s time to start speculating what we can expect from its fourth installment. While Netflix hasn’t shied away from giving us updates on the series in the past (remember when Eleven returned?), director Shawn Levy gave a vague hint that new announcements might be coming soon.

In an interview with Variety, he said that “the upside for this next year is going to be more.” Obviously, the new season encountered a few hurdles thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak. But even if the pandemic didn’t happen, viewers still would have had to endure a long wait between seasons. Because according to Levy (who has also directed several episodes of the series), the scope is much bigger this time around.

About Shawn Levy

Shawn Levy is a Canadian film Director and Producer. He is best known for his work on Stranger Things and has also directed the Night at the Museum films, Date Night and Real Steel. “The upside for this next year,” he said, “is going to be more.” The downside? It’s going to take longer than expected because of COVID-19.

But even if it didn’t happen, viewers still would have had a long wait between seasons, according to Levy (who has also directed several episodes of the series), with an ambitious scope that makes him feel like they’re starting over again in some ways.
