Stranger Things Season 4: Finale Should Have Delivered More

The Stranger Things Season 4 series finale was a bit of a disappointment. The episode started with a tease of what could have been an intense battle between the kids and the Demogorgon (I mean, who doesn’t love a good battle between monsters), but things quickly turned into what felt like an underwhelming ending to one of Netflix’s most anticipated series.  Now, there are many options for people who want something more out of this last episode. Some theories say that Bob could be Will Byers in disguise and not dead at all, but sadly those may be more Hollywood than reality. The episode recycled a lot of footage from the previous episodes, and many moments felt forced and with little to no effect on the narrative.

It was a good series finale, but I don’t think it was quite what we expected it to be. “Demo Day” shows things are going to get worse for Mike, Lucas, and Will before they get better. We see Hopper’s office engulfed in flames, but he is still alive. When we see him crash on his motorcycle in the hospital parking lot (a scene that I wanted to believe was real because of how specific it looked), he’s recovering from a broken leg but is soon able to escape with his life by using an elevator shaft.

What inspired the director to write Stranger Things Season 4?

The series is inspired by flashlights of Stephen King and the director did his best to keep the pace of the series. Another thing that was disappointing about this series finale is that we never really got a solid answer on what happened to Billy and Max.  The two kids seem to have disappeared from everybody’s minds after they go over their fence, which doesn’t feel like a fitting end for two kids who were so crucial to the last season of Stranger Things. Especially for Billy, since he made it out alive and seemed to have disappeared into obscurity like he never existed in the first place.

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite character of the director is Eleven. The director liked the performance of Millie Bobby Brown in the series and enjoyed her character as much as he did any other character on the show. He also enjoyed David Harbor’s performance as Jim Hopper. Both actors had great chemistry together.
