“The Crown Season 5”: Everything We Know So Far

The Crown is the reigning Queen of the Netflix series. The show’s first season premiered in November 2016 and the second season was released on December 8, 2017. Season 3 will be the final installment of the drama series before it ends for good with the fourth and fifth seasons.

Fans are eager to know more about what they can expect from the upcoming episodes but have been left waiting until Netflix releases new information as there has not yet been any official release date announced. In this article, we take a look at all the details we currently know so far about “The Crown” Season 5!

Plot Summary of “The Crown” Season 5

In the final installment, the Crown Season five finale will be about the Queen’s relationship with her family and what she would like to do for the future of England. The season will also see a troubling period in the United Kingdom when they are faced with terrorism from within their borders. We don’t know yet how things end up but all that we can say now is that this ending will not go down without a fight!

Release Date of “The Crown” Season 5

Production for the fifth season will kick off in July, Variety confirmed with The Crown’s producers. Filming will take place at the usual Elstree Studios, just north of London, and is expected to abide by strict COVID-19 protocols, even as lockdown measures in the United Kingdom begin to ease up.

With production beginning this summer, Season 5 likely won’t arrive on Netflix until 2022, Deadline previously reported. The delay wasn’t caused by the coronavirus pandemic, however. Apparently, the break was planned all along.

After Season 4 debuted last fall, fans will have to wait more than a year for the next installment. Of course, this isn’t the first time The Crown has taken a long break; there was a two-year wait between Seasons 2 and 3 too.
