A new video from “Gotham Knights” teases the mystery behind Batman’s death in the upcoming CW drama premiering in March. Batman’s death becomes the focal point of a new Gotham Knights video feature. The CW Network is finally moving away from the DC TV brand, but not without a new superhero show to fill the void. “Gotham Knights” is a new show based on the world of Batman. The television series Gotham Knights are completely different from the video game that was released in 2022. This is not a spinoff series or tie-in to Arrowverse.

What inspired “Gotham Knight”?

The inspiration for the show is something that everyone can relate to, which is a fake death. Batman in the comics has dealt with this issue several times, including when he faked his death and then came back to live again sometime later. The comic book series has also featured characters who died and came back to life including Superman and John Constantine, who eventually got killed and came back again. In the comic book series, Batman dies and this causes a strain on the family. We will have to wait and see how things are going to work out for the rest of the cast.

What do we expect from the series?

“Gotham Knights” explores a world where Batman is dead. Gotham City’s elite are all too aware of this fact and have banded together, forming an organization known as “Gotham Knights.” But, who are the Knights? What do they want? And how do they get it? In “Gotham Knights” a diverse group of Gotham City’s bravest endure the city’s most dangerous situations, to protect its citizens from their worst nightmares and bring justice to those who have been wronged.

“Gotham Knights” is based on the alternate universe story started in Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns”, a sequel to his “The Dark Knight Strikes Again” where Batman dies. Batman is dead in this series. More specifically he faked his death. He is still alive and he is living on a distant island. It will be interesting to see how Bruce Wayne will end up being involved with Gotham Knights when he’s not even living on the mainland of Gotham or Metropolis.

Background of the series

“Gotham Knights” is based on the world of “The Dark Knight Returns” which was written by Frank Miller. The comic book was published in 1986 and was followed by a sequel titled “The Dark Knight Strikes Again”. In 1988, DC Comics released a limited edition hardback book titled “The Dark Knight Returns – The Journal of the Dark Knight”. This story features the world where Batman has died.  It is unclear if “Gotham Knights” will follow in the footsteps of the comic book series and feature four seasons of one Batman. The new show will most likely have four separate Batman instead of one Batman that dies. This way, there is no need to worry about recasting the role in the future when the time comes to renew or cancel the show.
