The Handmaid’s Tale has been a major success on Hulu and in the TV world. The show is based on Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel, which was written in 1985. It tells the story of Offred (Elisabeth Moss), who lives in an oppressive society where women are not allowed to read or have money but are forced to bear children for powerful men. THE Plot:

Season two follows Offred’s pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free herself from slavery, along with numerous fellow Handmaids: Janine (Madeline Brewer), Ofglen (Alexis Bledel), and Emily (Kelly Jenrette). Season two and three take place between flashbacks showing how the world got from where it was before (freer) to what it is now. In season four, Offred is pregnant and struggles with the possibility of escaping to Mexico. The fifth and final season will take place in the future after Gilead has fallen.

THE STARRING CAST:

Elisabeth Moss stars as Offred in the Emmy Award-winning Hulu series. She is joined by Joseph Fiennes (Commander Fred Waterford), Yvonne Strahovski (Serena Joy), and Alexis Bledel (“The Handmaid tales) The series has won eight Emmy Awards as well as a Golden Globe Award for best drama television series.
