The highly awaited HBO series, The Last of Us now goes on a journey with Joel, a survivor of the viral outbreak that’s destroyed the civilization and who’s afflicted by his trauma, and 14-year-old orphan Ellie (Bella), who he’s been assigned to protect as she may be the one able to save the world.  The movie adaptation of this video game series is developed by Emmy-winners Sam Raimi (Spiderman 3) and Jack Thorne (This Is England) and is based on the Naughty Dog story that led to the game. The film shows a lot of the same core elements in the video game but brings this story to life.

After watching it I could see why this series is highly regarded, just like the games; it’s a dark, emotional, and darkly funny story that takes you on a journey as you witness how Joel attempts to survive another day while coping with his inner demons.

Exactly when will The Last Of Us be released?

This series will be released on 15 January 2023. The Last of Us is an achievement of the video game medium, having pushed the form in new directions upon its release almost 10 years ago. The story of the video game has been delighting gamers for years, and it looks like the film will have something special to show, which is the post-apocalyptic world.

When viewing clips and stills from the movie, it’s evident that The Last of Us is going to be unforgiving in its depiction of this dreadful setting. The action scenes and story of the film are exciting, but it’s also smart enough to explore deeper themes with its main characters Joel (Daley) and Ellie (Watts).

This is how The Last Of Us Plot unfolds:

The Last of Us is an emotional epic that captures the game’s spirit while developing the narrative in surprising and rewarding ways. It gets off to a very slow start, but once the series commits to its vision, The Last of Us can be devastating as the game that preceded it. This series is a faithful adaptation of the game and does a great job exploring the father-daughter relationship between Ellie and Joel. I would say that this is one of the best movies based on video games ever.

The Name of Cast & Characters of The Last Of Us:

  • Pedro Pascal · Joel Miller
  • Bella Ramsey · Ellie Williams
  • Gabriel Luna · Tommy Miller
  • Merle Dandridge · Marlene
  • Jeffrey Pierce · Perry

What can we expect from The Last Of Us?

We can expect The Last of Us to be very dark and emotional, not to mention violent. It will follow the same structure as the game. The film looks to be a brutal and challenging experience, which is well-received by viewers on the Internet because it seems quite original and since it is done in this way it can feel more intense than other movies based on video games before.

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite characters of the director, Sam Raimi, are Marlene and Ellie. He likes Marlene because she’s tough, brave and a great fighter. Moreover, he loves Ellie, who is agile and also determined enough to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. This combination makes her a perfect survivor as she protects Joel.

What is the level of violence in The Last Of Us?

The level of violence in The Last Of Us is very high and bloody, like any video game adaptation before it. Therefore this movie may be very violent for some viewers but those who like these kinds of movies will be excited about it. The Last Of Us movie is considered a drama, action, horror, and science fiction genre movie because it deals with death, survival, and love in a post-apocalyptic world that has been infected by viruses.
