B.J Novak, the comedian, and actor best known for his work on the NBC sitcom The Office is the creative mind behind a new FX comedy series titled The Premise. Plot Summary of “The Premise”
The Premise follows the story of Dylan Wainwright, a 20-something New Yorker who is the CEO and founder of the world’s most powerful search engine. It has been made public that the company will be in its final weeks before going under when he meets his old college friend Tate (played by Beau Bridges).
The two decide to take on one last challenge – an attempt to make the first-ever fully interactive website! They quickly find themselves up against many obstacles with their investors pulling out left and right, but are ultimately able to launch the site just as they run out of money for it. To keep the lights on until the site can prove itself profitable or sell off online ads, Dylan takes what little cash he has done the venture and places the bet that he can pay the bills by taking his idea to the world of gambling.
While in its first week, Dylan makes enough money for a month’s worth of operating costs with just one hand-deal. He quickly realizes the potential benefits from this new source of revenue when it starts generating more than what the site itself is making from online ads. With all these extra funds at their disposal, they can make some quick fixes on the website like adding full-length movies rather than clips – which leads them to find success before long! The story concludes as Netflix comes knocking, looking for an investment option to grow into new markets abroad.”
