A group of secret agents has gathered to a secret facility for an important briefing about the past. One agent, Harold (Thandiwe Newton), is shocked and horrified to discover that her friend Maximus (Chris Pine) is working for the mysterious organization known as The New Foundation. But this is no surprise to Harold, who had – years earlier – spent time in prison after his betrayal of his old friends.
She immediately questions the authenticity of her superiors, especially when one of them does not even recognize her. Harold must use all her skills as a member of the Secret Service and obtain proof that Maximus’ actions are far more sinister than she realizes.

What inspired you to write the All The Old Knives series?
This series is inspired by the writers’ interest in the world of politics and espionage. There were big challenges, but it was a bit hard to make a compelling story within 90 minutes that included enough action and humor.
The creator got inspired by his love for political thrillers like 24 and Homeland. Also, he got inspired by movies like 13-Reasons Why and series such as Homeland, House of Cards, and Designated Survivor.
What is your favorite book in the series and why?
My favorite book in the series would be the second book of the series. The premise of this second book is interesting, and it forces us to think about different aspects associated with deep cover operations.
I would tell them to have a solid plot before they start writing each chapter. They need to have a clear concept of their books from the beginning so that they stay on track throughout their creative process.
How do you come up with the characters and their stories?
In the case of our series, we came up with a clear idea of what kind of characters we wanted to write about. So, instead of coming up with new characters we already had developed a story that revolves around the idea that there are people who work in an organization called The New Foundation.
We also had an idea of some specific issues that we wanted to address. Sometimes it is easy to start coming up with ideas, but it is more challenging to find ways to address them effectively and creatively.
Do you have any plans to write a prequel or sequel to the series?
We have no plans to write a prequel or a sequel to the series. However, our main goal is to continue telling stories set in the world of espionage that provide entertainment and action. Are you working on any other projects that you can tell us about?
We are currently working on a sequel to the third book, which is about to be released in May. I like writing for children’s literature because I believe that it allows me to tell stories in different ways and that is important for a writer of a children’s novel as well as a writer of any novel!
