What inspired you to write The Tourist Series?
This series is inspired by the movie “Taken” and the novel “The Tourist”. Jamie Dornan · The Man is inspired by Liam Neeson’s character in the movie. This series is based on a man who goes on vacation to Venice and finds himself caught in a dangerous web of deceit, betrayal, and compromised love. This story is inspired by “The Tourist”, a novel by Olen Steinhauer.
How does the series compare or contrast with your other work?
This series is a thriller drama that is different from my other works. I am very excited and nervous to see how TV audiences like the series. The story of The Tourist is based on the book, “The Tourist”, by Olen Steinhauer. It was adapted into a film called “Taken” and this series is inspired by it. This series has been inspired by both the book and the movie and has expanded on the characters in this story. The cast includes Jamie Dornan, Danielle Macdonald, Damon Herriman, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and others in leading roles.
Where did the idea for the series come from?
The inspiration for this series came from the movie, “Taken” and the book, “The Tourist”. My interest in this story was first sparked when I saw the movie in the summer of 2014. This movie is based on a man who goes on a trip to visit his love and soon discovers that she is married to someone else and is part of a dangerous criminal gang. He goes on a journey to uncover her secrets and get revenge.
This series has expanded on that story and weaves another complex one telling a different perspective of this tale. It follows an undercover detective (Detective Lachlan Rogers), who has been sent by his boss to investigate the mysterious stranger who has been visiting tourists in Venice.
Are there any differences between the book and film?
The plot of the movie was based on the book, “The Tourist”. The premise for this story is similar to that. However, the storyline is different and has been expanded upon creating a more complex version of this story further on in this series with a different perspective to it. The story also includes a new character as well as new versions of existing characters so that they are better fleshed out.
Was it difficult to keep the story moving forward without divulging?
The story moves forward without revealing too much information and the characters are not fully revealed. There is an additional character that we learn more about later, which helps us to know more about them. This series has been expanded upon and our knowledge of them has increased.
