One of the most popular stories is that of Valhalla, a place where brave Vikings go after they die.  No one knows exactly who came up with the idea of Valhalla. It is said that it was created by the Norse God, Odin. Whether this really is true or not is still debated by historians, but there is no doubt that Valhalla has existed for centuries as a place for heroes to gather after death.

What inspired you to write the Valhalla series about Vikings?

The series is inspired by the TV series Vikings which has captured the hearts of millions of fans. There are many books and films based on Norse mythology, but this one is unique in that it is inspired by one of the most popular shows on television. The plot will make you think about what really happened in past in Viking history and how they were able to discover their secret places like Odin’s court, Thor’s hall, Freya’s temple, etc. These stories are based on myths and legends from different areas around the world so there may be little differences.

Why do you think readers are fascinated by stories about Vikings, even though they lived?

The Vikings have always been a popular subject for writers, philosophers, and artists. They have contributed many important ideas to our culture.  The Vikings were pioneers who were skilled at sailing and exploration. While they did not have the technology that we have today, they were able to create and build many things that have served humanity for centuries or millennia.

How did you research for the series, and what were some of the challenges?

I researched for the series by using books and articles. I also had friends who were teachers of history help me with any questions I might have about the Vikings and their culture.

I am fascinated by Viking culture, but as I mentioned, there are many different accounts of what happened at that time.  Due to the lack of written records from thousands of years ago, many questions still remain unanswered. It is often very difficult to say what exactly happened or what people might have said at a certain time.

What is your favourite thing about writing historical fiction, and why do you think?

I love writing historical fiction because it allows me to explore a rich, diverse world by creating new characters, new places, and all the wonderful ideas that occur when these two worlds collide. Adding fantasy elements to the story can make history come alive for readers by allowing them to imagine what might have happened in the past. It will also help with keeping their imaginations wide open about the future.

Do you have any plans to write more books in the Valhalla series, or perhaps explore?

It is my hope that this series will grow into a saga, and I hope that you will enjoy following along with these immortal warriors as they conquer new horizons. I am fascinated by Viking culture, but as I mentioned there are many different accounts of what happened in the past. Imagine being able to ask the most famous warriors and heroes how they felt when they were exploring new lands, or struggling with their rivals.
