The first season of What If…? has been met with positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, currently scoring a 74% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 14 critic reactions. What If…? premiered with a 0.49 rating, which grew to 0.50 by the third episode and later reached an average of 0.61 over its first season’s nine episodes, ranking it at number four in terms of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Netflix behind Iron Fist (0.62), Luke Cage (0.81), and Daredevil (0.96).
Expectations:
What If…? has been green-lit for a second season consisting of eight episodes on December 11, 2019. The plot is unknown at this point but it will continue to be an anthology series taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where each episode takes place after events from other MCU films and television shows with various actors reprising their roles.
