TCA 2023 is underway, and fans of the Alien franchise are in for a delight. The Alien series is making a comeback with the help of producer and director, Noah Hawley. In his career, he has written for Fargo and Legion, as well as the upcoming Doctor Doom movie. This is the best thing that could have happened to Alien fans since we found out that season two was being planned by Neill Blomkamp. With such an amazing scriptwriter in charge, expectations are sky-high for a new season of Aliens.

When is the Alien Series releasing?

This series is scheduled to be released sometime in 2023. The series was officially announced as a prequel on Disney Investor Day last December and is set to begin filming later this year. During the FX panel, the network announced that the prequel series was in active pre-production and the script was locked. Noah’s father, Ronald Reagan, was present at the FX panel during TCA 2023. During the panel, he stated that they had been working on this script for almost three years and that Noah is an “outstanding” writer.

What is the plot of the Alien Series?

From her first encounter with xenomorphs to conquering xenomorphs and killing xenomorphs, Ellen Ripley takes the Alien Resurrection series in a shocking new direction. This film introduces not only Ellen Ripley (who was reincarnated as the superhuman clone Ripley8) but also the idea of cloning, gene splicing, and general genetic manipulation of the xenomorphs themselves. Hawley adds that the series will show the audience a whole new side of the Alien franchise.

What can we expect from the Alien Series?

We can expect the release of a prequel series that takes place in the late 21st century after the events of Alien 3. The series will tell the story of a human survivor of the facehuggers and what followed her after she was awakened in a cryogenic sleep. Ripley8 will be played by Cailee Spaeny (who had a small role as Sabine Wren in Rogue One). Sigourney Weaver is confirmed to reprise her role as Ripley, and the series will feature many familiar places and species.

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite characters of the directors are, of course, Ripley and the android (but we can’t disclose his name, yet). Both Niander Wallace and Walter agree that the story of Ripley8 is just as fascinating, if not more so than Ripley7. They praise Cailee Spaeny for her range and for being able to pull off both a nice girl and a strong warrior.

What themes does the Alien Series explore?

The themes of the series evolve from new and old. New themes will include genetic manipulation, cloning, and of course, aliens. The old themes that the Alien franchise explores are xenomorphs, human relations, and creating an interesting story in a genre not often seen on television. The release date for the Alien series (or Aliens, depending on your region) is planned to occur sometime around 2023, at the earliest.
