The Twin: Teresa Palmer Reacts To Dark Twist Ending

In The Twin, Teresa Palmer plays two roles: identical twins separated at birth. When one of the sisters dies, the other must take her place. In a shocking turn of events, the film ends with Palmer’s character-revealing that she has been playing both parts all along. We recently caught up with Palmer to get her reaction to the film’s dark twist ending. The Twin is still in select theaters. In a featurette for the film, The Twins star Teresa Palmer shares about working with director David Twohy. “It’s very much like being a child actor, and you have to have faith and trust that everything’s going to work out,” she says. “He just lets you do your thing.” 

After we had the chance to chat with Palmer, she also shared her thoughts on working with her childhood idol Willem Dafoe. “We’re really good friends now,” she said of the actor who has played Chucky in several films.

What inspired the director to write The Twin Series?

The series is inspired by the phenomena of apparent multiple personalities. The director, Twohy who has written the film has a fascination for this kind of story. The name of the series The Twin is actually named as a statue located in Boston called The Twin Statue. It was a statue of identical twins separated at birth. 

Also, Twohy has written the film titled Raising Arizona which is the story of an identical twin who has to find her real twin in the world. He also has written the film titled Stuck which is the story about a girl who can not figure out that she has been living with her identical twin since she was 6 years old and only like 5 years old.

How did the director choose your lead roles?

Twohy had to choose a lead role that would be played by two different actresses because one actress cannot do the job of two different actresses. Teresa Palmer was chosen because of her ability and talent in acting as twins. The director was looking for the right actor or actress who might work with him and tried out many people at the same time.

What were the challenges the director faced while shooting the movie?

Twin is one of the most challenging films Twohy has ever directed because Twohy had to take two actresses with different abilities and talents and make them into one great film that would be remembered by many people in many years.
