What inspired the director to write Avatar The Way of Water Series?

The series is inspired by James Cameron. In his documentary, “Ghosts of the Amazon”, James Cameron discovered a region in Peru and Bolivia that was largely untouched by development. He later returned with a small film crew to study how the people had survived through decades of ecological devastation and exploitation.

James Cameron visited Tambopata Research Center, where he filmed a documentary about the rainforest and its indigenous people. In the process, he met Tambopata’s director, Peter Laumann, who later came to play a supporting role in Avatar.

How does water play a role in the series and why is it so important to you?

Water plays a pivotal role in the film as it does to all of the Avatar films.  Water is said to be the “elemental source” of life. Water is considered a living entity that has a strong connection to all living things because it represents emotions and feelings.

It can also be used as a weapon. That is why James Cameron named the movie Avatar: The Way of Water and will lead us on another journey with Jake Sully and Neytiri, this time they have been fighting to protect those who have turned against him.

What do people take away from the series after watching it or reading it?

People take away a message of hope, to look for friends and learn about people who are not like them, to appreciate and understand the environment in which he lives. The series expresses a strong message of unity and peace among all people.

Is there any backstory or origin story to how you got the idea for the series?

James Cameron said that he would like to explore stories about ancient civilizations, themes about global warming and climate change, and how humanity coexists with nature in a symbiotic relationship.
