“Better Call Saul” star Bob Odenkirk collapses on the set in New Mexico while shooting. The actor, who played sleazy criminal lawyer Saul Goodman for five seasons on “Breaking Bad,” was said to be hospitalized with a heart ailment after collapsing while the Breaking series’ spinoff show “Better Call Saul” has been shooting its sixth and final season in Albuquerque. The 58-year old is reportedly doing well at the University of New Mexico Hospital, but he has not been released.
According to publicists and his former Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston, Odenkirk was hospitalized with an unspecified heart ailment after collapsing on the set of “Better Call Saul” in Albuquerque.
According to reports at the time of his heart attack, Odenkirk was feeling unwell and went to the hospital on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, a representative for AMC said he had been released from the hospital.
Odenkirks’ reps declined to comment when contacted by Reuters about his health status but did confirm that he collapsed while shooting “Better Call Saul.”
It wasn’t immediately clear how or why Odenkirk fell ill on set Wednesday evening. In recent years, the actor has battled weight-gain issues and walked with a cane at an Emmy awards ceremony last month after having surgery related to back pain several months ago.
NO! As per reports and doctor’s statements he was fit and in his pink of health. In fact, this was the first time he collapsed and suffered from a major ailment.
“He is stable now but needs some tests done so he can be released from the hospital soon,” one source close to Odenkirk told Reuters on condition of anonymity late Tuesday night.
The other confirmed that he had been transferred for treatment at a bigger medical center as doctors were still trying to figure out what caused him to collapse. “He was on the set between takes,” a crew member said of Odenkirk’s health scare, adding that he had complained about feeling unwell before collapsing and losing consciousness.
The actor most notably starred in the TV series Breaking Bad alongside Bryan Cranston, which ended seven years ago – and now stars in Better Call Saul for AMC will soon be ending, too at season six.
