About Call the Midwife:

The show is set in London’s East End during the 1950s and 60s. Call The Midwife follows Jenny Lee, a newly qualified midwife who joins an unconventional nursing order named Nonnatus House. The release date for the tenth season of Call, the midwife, has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be on screens in 2022.

Production:

Call The Midwife was created by Heidi Thomas, who drew inspiration from the memoirs of Jennifer Worth. In 2012, she said that if a season two were to be made, it would need to go in a “different direction” as most plotlines had been drawn from the books. Tim Fywell directed early episodes of series one and four; he was replaced by Michael Engler.

Filming:

Series one was filmed in the London borough of Merton, including scenes set in a convent which were filmed at Wimbledon Studios where much of series two through four have also been filmed. In series three and five, filming took place just outside Llandaff village on Cardiff Lane.
