There are a lot of movies to look forward to this year, but the best title of them all might belong to “Cocaine Bear”. This comedy/thriller is based on the true story of a black bear that ate an enormous quantity of cocaine. It’s regrettable, but the bear did not live through his drug experience. Though he only gained a reputation in Lexington, Kentucky, one can see him on display. In actuality, the bear has been nicknamed ‘Cokey’ which Banks recently shared with Total Film.  We’ve been very much on the same page about the tone and levels of gore in the bear. Banks explained, “This has been the most time-consuming project I’ve had to work on. Our team refers to the bear as Cokey and we had to get her ready for audiences just in time.”

What is “Cocaine Bear” about?

The year was 1981 in Lexington, Kentucky. A black bear had found its way into a garbage can and found a large amount of cocaine. This is an urban legend that has been circulating for years and the film will follow the events that happened to the animal. Cocaine Bear is currently in production and is slated for release later this year. It’s directed by Jordan Rubin and stars Banks as Cocaine Bear. Banks’ character will discuss her life before cocaine.

In the production of Cocaine Bear, Banks has teamed up with another actor she is well-known for, Lizzy Caplan. To make this film truly authentic, the director and actors needed a bear. The Cincinnati Zoo sent Banks and Caplan a black bear so that she could understand the environment of the movie. The bear was very tame and had been living at the zoo for more than a year but was not introduced to the public until it appeared in Cocaine Bear.

The storyline of the movie

The film is based on a true story of the time when a bear was killed by the drugs that he took in the Dumpsters. The death of the animal came to be known as “Cocaine Bear”. His last days were spent in an animal preserve at Cincinnati Zoo’s Living Museum, soon after he had been taken into custody. According to most accounts, Coacain appeared to be quite content with his new surroundings and did not appear anxious or agitated. There are various stories about why it died and what happened before it died.

Inspiration for “Cocaine Bear” movie

This film is inspired by a real-life story of an American black bear that died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine in 1985. The dose of hard drugs is dropped from a plane piloted by Andrew C. Thornton II. A convicted drug smuggler, a former narcotics officer was caught smuggling drugs when he was carrying too many. Thornton then jumped from the airplane with the parachute which was faulty and died. A bear was found in Georgia with 40 opened plastic containers of cocaine inside. A bear is currently on display at Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington, Kentucky, which has named the creature “Cocaine Bear” in 2015.
