It’s been a year since Emily Cooper walked out on her marriage with writer Stephen Hay. As the third season of “Emily in Paris” kicks off, Emily is still caught up in her quest for balance between love and work. The fourth season of Emily in Paris is already renewed with the premier of the third season.
In the beginning, Emily was already looking for a new apartment and she had already done some of her inner reflection by playing all the games available in Paris. Emily’s inner struggle played a role in the new adventures of characters that played less than in previous installments. At the beginning of the third season, Emily and Stephen’s marriage seemed to have taken a toll. When Emily accused Stephen of trying to sabotage her work when she was about to become the creative director of her agency, it created a rift between them. However, in episode 3 “Love Hurts” when they finally talked things out that bond was renewed again.
The series was created by Leslie Morgenstein, who has been the executive producer and showrunner of successful shows such as “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelor Winter Games”. As far as ratings go, the first season reached almost 2 million viewers. This number was kept high by the second season when the numbers increased to 2.3 million people. However, when the third season took place, a huge downfall occurred for 1.7 million people. The series received a lot of critical acclaim. As far as the acting goes, Lily Collins was praised for her performance in season one. She was also a huge inspiration to the first season’s leading actress, Carly Pope.
Emily Cooper is a freelance writer in Paris who lives with her husband Stephen Hay. Despite being the breadwinner, Emily feels that she has no control over her life because of Stephen’s controlling nature and their financially strapped household. This begins to change when she receives an invitation to an event in Paris from Kiki Delaney, the renowned American actress. Unwilling to pass up a possible writing opportunity, Emily attends the event. There she meets her idol, Kiki Delaney, and realizes that if she wants a career as a writer, she must go for it. Despite Stephen’s disapproval, Emily starts writing and gains confidence in herself. She is still unsure how to proceed from here but continues to write.
The release date has not been officially announced yet. All the buzz about Emily in Paris season 4 being renewed for another season are still unconfirmed. The official Twitter account of Emily in Paris also updated their tweet on June 2018 during the premiere of “The Bookshop” where they confirmed the renewal with a snap. Later on, they tweeted that Emily’s story is not over yet and this could be a hint to another season of “Emily in Paris”.
The story of Emily in Paris season 3 was inspired by the novel by Jane Green, published in November 2007. The story deals with Emily’s long-standing search for a perfect life, her marriage crisis, and her relationship with her son Stephen and her friends. The protagonist is played by Lily Collins.
