What are the hosts’ backgrounds and how did they get interested in storytelling?
The hosts’ background stories are pretty interesting. Ed is a true crime enthusiast. He is interested in finding out stories behind the news and on the internet. He is also a very good writer and likes to post his work online.
Randall isn’t really a writer, but he is fascinated by human behaviour and the way people think. He enjoys the psychological aspect of life, which makes him very good at digging into details and getting to the truth behind an event or situation. Together they make an amazing team that has produced some of the most popular YouTube shows of all time.
How does the show work, what are the ground rules for telling a story on air?
Ed and Randall follow a very simple rule, which is that they tell the story from start to finish. Once they get to the middle, the audience will be given the chance to ask questions if needed. The way Ed and Randall select their stories is very interesting. They don’t just go on a quest for any story that is going around or mysterious, they rely on a lot of sources to help them decide what to put in their next show. They have some really interesting contacts who are connected to police departments across the country and even small towns.
What kind of stories does the show feature, and what makes them unique?

How did you guys meet? How long has it been since you started making videos together?
Ed & Randall first met when they were both in high school. They quickly became best friends because they had similar interests in life and also shared much in common with each other. After high school, they both went their separate ways and Ed got accepted into the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Communication where he majored in television and film production. After graduating, he took a job at MTV, which was his dream job. Then he decided to create his own YouTube channel while still working at MTV.
Randall also attended college and got accepted into New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts as a film major. He started doing some odd jobs on the side for extra money and finally started making his own videos online.
Are there any memorable moments from recording the show that sticks out?
There are a lot of memorable moments from recording the show that stick out. There was one time when they were recording episode 6 and they had to stop in the middle of the show because their studio was filled with fireflies that came out of nowhere. They didn’t have any bug spray so they had to close all the windows and doors, which resulted in Randall almost passing out due to the heat.
A more recent moment would be when they were recording an episode on one of America’s most haunted houses to ever exist and a huge cockroach crawled over Ed’s leg during recording. He didn’t realize it until he saw it on his computer screen and screamed like a little girl.
