What does our flag mean to us?

Our flag is a symbol of the sacrifices that have been made for our country. It is a reminder of the blood that has been spilled in the name of freedom. But what does it mean to those who fight in the shadows, to those who make the ultimate sacrifice? What moves us is not patriotism or love of country, but what we do in the shadows. 

Our flag means death, and we are willing to die for it. The bravery of the men and women who fight for our flag is admirable, but the bravery of those in the shadows outshines it in my eyes. My brothers and sisters who fight for this country are willing to give their lives, but it is not enough to protect me – we all must lay down our lives. This is why I stand firm behind our flag, even though I know what it means. I hold firm to my beliefs because they are all that I have left. You can’t take away my love of country or patriotism, but you can take away everything else. You can strip me of my family and friends, you can strip me of all that I am – but you will never take away what I do in the shadows.

This series will be released on 3 March 2022. Also the series has been optioned by Steven Spielberg as a feature film with Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049, Suicide Squad) being cast as Ghost. The screenplay is written by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) and the series will be directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde). The only thing I remember about that night was the blood. My brothers and sisters were on the floor in a pool of blood before I knew what was going on. I couldn’t move. The only thing I could do was look around at my fallen comrades and beg for my life.

The plot of the series is inspired by the Arab Spring, but with a slight twist – an American military coup. The series will follow a group of marines as they fight for their country and try to overthrow the government. The marines are led by Ghost, a veteran who lost his legs and hand during his service in Iraq. He leads them from underground and will do whatever it takes to get his revenge on the people who took his country away from him. The series will be released in two parts, with each part consisting of 6 episodes (12 hours).

What is the Our Flag Means Death Series and what are its goals?

The series is a series of comics that will be released on 3 March 2022.  The series aims to tell the stories of America’s most elite special forces team, the Ghost Company, as they fight to protect the US from a coup d’état by an extremist group led by Ghost. The series will explore themes such as loyalty, sacrifice and patriotism. The comic book tells three stories over the course of 12 hours – each story taking 6 hours in two parts each. The stories are called “Our Flag Means Death”, “What We Do in the Shadows” and “A Nation Divided”. 

What makes Our Flag Means Death apart from other comics?

The comic book is planned to be released on 3 March 2022, which will be a historic day for the world. Apart from this, the comic book explores themes that are seldom explored in comics. The series will also feature top-notch action sequences and high-end CGI effects. The series is also inspired by real-life events (checkpoint Charlie, the Arab Spring).

What can directors tell us about the inspiration behind Our Flag Means Death series?

The inspiration behind the visual novel comes from my own life and experiences of my family members and friends. I have used real-life events in some areas like Iraq and 9/11 for inspiration. I grew up without my mother, who was killed during 9/11 as a result of terrorism. Apart from this, I have had many friends who have been killed in the battlefields of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. Their stories are being told through “Our Flag Means Death”.
