Livepeer (LPT) has been on a bullish price rally since early this year but the price seems to be plunging as of recent, hence I would not be surprised if it dips below 5 USD, given the current trend. Livepeer is a decentralized and scalable P2P protocol that makes use of the Ethereum blockchain to enable and broadcast live streaming video feeds.

It runs a peer-to-peer sharing network with high levels of privacy which helps circumvent throttling and allows for unlimited concurrent users with ultra-low latency. Livepeer project aims to be fully open-source software, written in Rust programming language so that everybody can contribute code or help solve problems.

Livepeer has been on a bullish price rally since early this year but the price seems to be plunging as of recent, hence I would not be surprised if it dips below 5 USD, given the current trend. Livepeer has been relatively untested in terms of real world use cases and it remains to be seen if the project will finish its development as planned.

How Does the Livepeer Work?

Livepeer is a decentralized P2P protocol for streaming video streams. The platform is designed to work on top of Ethereum blockchain, where all streams and their metadata are stored. It runs a peer-to-peer sharing network with high levels of privacy which helps circumvent throttling and allows for unlimited concurrent users with ultra low latency. Livepeer project aims to be fully open source software, written in Rust programming language, so that everybody can contribute code or help solve problems.

Livepeer Is an Open Source Project

Livepeer is an open source project which means there’s no specific roadmap but the roadmap includes Qtum , Rust and Golang languages integration. The dev team is planning to integrate these languages in the near future, prior to the mainnet launch. Livepeer combines many interesting features such as low latency, privacy and decentralization.

Cool Feature of Livepeer: Low Latency and High Privacy

Livepeer has a very strong focus on privacy and stays completely decentralized by not storing any user data or metadata. It’s a decentralized, peer-to-peer (P2P) system of streaming video feeds. All streams are encrypted end to end using the P2P network to maintain privacy.

The platform relies on nodes that are randomly selected based on the system’s latency. Each node carries a small amount of information, which is dynamically split over time to ensure a consistent load. This protocol is called Shared View and it’s the basis for Livepeer’s low latency and high privacy. Even if a single node were to go down, all of the video streams continue uninterrupted.

No Metadata Is Kept or Recorded: Livepeer Is Strongly Private

Since Livepeer has no central authority, there’s no metadata kept or recorded of any kind when using Livepeer. There’s no way to censor or control what’s shared using the Livepeer network. Livepeer is a decentralized, distributed content delivery network that doesn’t store or record anything about users & content. Users can publish video and audio streams without fear of being censored or having their content blocked.

Streams via Livepeer are strongly secure with the security of using a decentralized, peer-to-peer encrypted end to end protocol. In addition to this, the platform also enables content discovery through V2V and V2P messaging. Since all user data is encrypted using a P2P network and nodes are randomly selected, it’s impossible for any user data to be compromised without the whole network being compromised first.
