Anthony Montgomery (Travis Mayweather, Enterprise) as instructor Lieutenant Joe Tormolen while Gary Graham will play Vulcan science officer Professor Tharok and Andree Bernard is cast to play a Cadet named Michelle who has some troublesome tendencies.

There are four students who have been named to the main cast: Cadet Sylvia Tilly, played by Mary Wiseman; Cadet Michael Burnham, played by Sonequa Martin-Green; Cadet Saru (Doug Jones), a Kelpien Science Officer; and Cadet Sylvia Tilly, played by Mary Wiseman.

THE PLOT:

The series follows the lives of cadets who are entering their last semester at a futuristic version of Starfleet Academy and the challenges they face, balancing life outside academia with what goes on inside. The spaceship, U.S.S Enterprise, is transporting a Vulcan Ambassador named T’Pol back to her home planet when they are attacked by Romulan warbirds.

Enterprise is able to outmaneuver the attacking ships, and T’Pol is eventually safely deposited on Vulcan, but not before a distress beacon goes off with an unknown message in it that catches the attention of Starfleet Command, who orders Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) to investigate what happened.

FILMING AND PRODUCTION:

The series ran from September 26th to October 27th of 2017. It was directed by Jonathan Frakes and written by Andres Heinz with a cast that includes: Linda Park as T’Pol (Vulcan); Connor Trinneer as Jonathan Archer (Human, Captain of the Enterprise); Dominic Keating as Malcolm Reed (Human, Tactical Officer), Anthony Montgomery and Shran. The series was filmed in Vancouver with a budget estimated to be around $50 million dollars which is about what it cost for The Next Generation to make two seasons.

REVIEWS:

No reviews yet, but it is expected to be released sometime this year. The show currently has a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. There will be about 24 episodes per season that are expected to air on CBS All Access.CBS has declined to release plot details, but it is likely going to follow a new batch of Starfleet Academy graduates as they learn what it takes to become an officer and explore the galaxy.

EXPECTATIONS:

Fans are anxiously awaiting the new show and it is likely to be a success. The cast list has been met with positive reviews; fans love Doug Jones’ portrayal of Saru in Star Trek: Discovery, and Tilly will have some familiarity from her work on CBS’s The Good Fight. Fans are eager for this new show and eagerly awaiting more information about casting, plot details, and filming.
