What inspired you to write The Adam Project series?

This series is inspired by the real incident. It was a terrible act, but it was portrayed as a hero’s deed. It is very painful to see how this school tried to save its reputation at that time. Some people were sent out of the school as part of a damage control operation.

But In fact, they were also victims in this tragedy because they were expelled even though they had nothing to do with the incident. All I want is to tell their stories and let everyone know what happened behind the scenes without being scared of any repercussions or being expelled from school.

What was your process for writing it – did you plan each book out before writing?

I wrote the whole story at once. I wanted to know what happened next and could not stop writing.  I just kept writing, thinking about the characters and their background stories, and imagining how they would react under different circumstances. I did not plan in advance because I wanted to see where the story would go and find out along with the readers what was going to happen next.

Are there any characters in the series that are based on people you know?

No. The characters in the series are based on real people and events which have happened in my life. This series is a trilogy because originally, there was not going to be a second book after the first one, but I found myself thinking about it and decided I wanted to continue with another book about the Adam Project characters.

Do you have any plans for a sequel or further books in the series?

This is a trilogy. The sequels are just as exciting as the first book and explore how one incident can affect the lives of many people. There are also many unexpected twists which I hope readers will enjoy.

Where did you get your inspiration for this story?

The real incident inspired me to write The Adam Project series. This story is very close to my heart, because there was a terrible act of violence in my school in 2000 when I was a teenager living in Australia at Westport Lake high school.

However, the school tried to minimize this incident, and in fact, expelled some students who had nothing to do with this crime. This incident has haunted me since it happened. I wanted to tell everyone what happened behind the scenes without being scared of any repercussions or being expelled from school.

I have written many books on other subjects before this series, but I was waiting for the right time to write The Adam Project novels. When I found out that Netflix was going to make a film about this incident in 2018 and needed an original script which would be used as a source for their development project.
