What inspired The Batman series and what are its origins?

This series is inspired by the Batman comics. The character is one of the most popular superheroes in DC comics. Ben Affleck will be playing the lead role as Batman and many other casts are also included in this series.

Matt Reeves has been named as Director for The Batman movie. It was announced that Tom Hardy was cast as Rickard “Red” Hurley. Hardy will portray one of the antagonists of the film. Reeves himself was previously a producer on two films starring Hardy: “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “War for the Planet of the Apes”.

How does it compare to other superhero movies and TV shows out there today?

With the success of films like the “Avengers” series, it makes sense that studios would attempt to make superhero films rivaling their huge budgets. And on this front, The Batman is looking to follow in the footsteps of “Suicide Squad”, “Deadpool”, and “Guardians of the Galaxy”.

But as a Batman film, it’s also looking to live up to its rich history (not counting any possible future reboots), and hopefully deliver something a little different than we’ve seen before.

Who are some of the key cast and crew members involved in the project?

Director Matt Reeves is known for directing the recent Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, and also helmed Cloverfield. The screenplay is being written by Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns

The Batman has been in development since at least 2011 when it was announced that a solo film was in development, but had not yet been given the green light. In January 2015, it was announced that Affleck had been signed on to direct and star as Batman, with no release date set.

Why do you think audiences have responded so positively?

The original comics ran for around 50 years, and during their run, they tackled a variety of issues. So in terms of exploring the character, you’ve got something to work with.

Affleck was confirmed as Batman in a press conference held at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles. However, neither Warner Bros. nor Affleck had shared any further news on the film since that announcement. It was reported that the studio was currently waiting for Affleck to finish up his appearances in “Argo” and “Live by Night”.

Are there any particular plot points or themes that you found particularly resonant?

The Nolan Trilogy focused on how Bruce Wayne’s hubris, arrogance, and pain led him to become Batman. The series had a very grounded take on the character, highlighting the psychological effects that his failures had on him.  Batman could potentially take a more fantastical approach, using the world of Gotham as a way to explore the full breadth of Batman’s abilities, while also showing how they can be used for good or cause damage. In that sense, it could be similar to what was seen in “Batman: The Animated Series”.
