A movie directed by Rob Savage and produced by 21 Laps, the banner behind Stranger Things. The film was screened and tested well in December, which made studios reconsider their release strategy. This move echoes what happened with the horror movie, “Smile,” directed by Parker Finn which was originally supposed to be released by Paramount+ but a bolstered test screening altered its destiny. The film, the cost of which was only $17 million, was released in an open cinema by Paramount last autumn and horror movies are rarely so successful.

The movie is based on the short story of the same name which was written by a big name in the horror genre Stephen King in 1978. The story takes place in A man named Lester Billings who goes to the office of Dr. Harper, a psychiatrist, to talk about the “murders” of his three young children to describe those of the recent few years. His first two children died while they were left alone in their bedrooms, which is not an uncommon occurrence. The only parallels were that the children exclaimed “The Boogeyman,” before being left alone, and the closet door was open after Billings found the two bodies. But Billings insists that he shut the door before leaving.

The most famous ones are “Carrie,” “The Shining,” “It” and “Misery.” The latter was also turned into a movie by Rob Reiner in 1990. About the screenwriter – Rob Savage is a screenwriter and director, having directed a wide range of films in his career. He is both the writer and director of “The Boogeyman,” which was written by James Wan, who also took charge of the production. The film starred Leland Orser, Sally Kirkland, and Andrew Howard. The movie was released under the 21 Laps banner in 2014.

What do we expect from the movie?
The film is described as a “little gem of the genre.” We don’t even know the plot. While some people imagine the movie to be like “Misery” (1990), where Paul Sheldon gets terrorized by his former nurse, Mr. King’s stories are much more gory and violent. But as said in an interview with Jean-Claude Carrière on The Horror Society podcast, if you think about it, most horror movies today have little to do with Stephen King’s stories. The plot of“The Boogeyman,” is unclear because it is based on a short story, but the trailer tells a lot.
