Fans of the Evil Dead franchise are excited to see what Cronin has planned with his new installment of “Evil Dead Rise”. The trailer showed the creatures from an earlier film which is a sign that it will be more. This time around, Ash Williams is nowhere to be seen and the central location of a remote cabin has been replaced with a high-rise apartment block. The Evil Dead cabin, which is typically claustrophobic and small, has been transgressed into the movie’s apartment setting. The trailer for the newest horror film brought an intense amount of violence and scares, but it lacked the humor that the franchise is well known for. While The Evil Dead is a horror movie, it’s all dark humor. It’s not a comedy with horror elements, so don’t expect to laugh while watching this movie.

Why Doesn’t Evil Dead Rise Seem Funny?

The Evil Dead franchise has become so popular for its star Bruce Campbell. In the past movies of Evil dead, Michael has been beaten up by himself, thrown into medieval times, and found himself fending off Deadites in a supermarket. It’s not surprising that the original movie’s brutal horror has been absorbed into the horror comedy success of the franchise. The Evil Dead has effectively become a separate entity from Evil Dead II and its sequel movie and series.

Expectations from the movie

The expectations for the movie are high. This is the first part of a new trilogy for the franchise. The movie will be based on “Book of the Dead” which is a prequel story to the original film. The opening scene at a beautiful cabin, which resembles Evil Dead’s cabin and Jessie Caulk’s home, was removed, while the film’s main character is portrayed as an overconfident Ray of sunshine, who owns an apartment in New York City’s upper-class area. The severed finger from the trailer may indicate a new type of monster, which is different from the Freddy Krueger-like original movie.

What do fans think?

From what fans have seen, the movie looks like it is going to be an intense horror. While some fans are excited to see more supernatural action scenes that are not decapitation, others are disappointed by the lack of comedic moments. The film will feature an unlikely hero and an unlikely cast, which is not common in Evil Dead movies. It’s still unknown what type of humor the movie will present, but it is unlikely to be the same as its predecessors.

Release date of the movie

The movie “Evil Dead Rise” will be released on April 21, 2023. In the UK, the movie will be co-produced by StudioCanal. The film was originally set for a streaming-only release on HBO Max but was moved to a theatrical release in August 2023. Warner Bros. is changing its film distribution plan. Instead of releasing their films primarily on HBO Max, they will be giving more priority to theaters.

In the conclusion,

The preview was said to be dark and scary, which did put the audience on edge. This is a pretty suitable concept to tell the sequel of Evil Dead if you ask me. This is an amazing movie to watch because it will give you a deep experience that you can’t just forget in one day. The story of this new horror film is still unknown, but judging from the trailer there is no doubt that we will be witnessing an interesting movie. The Evil Dead is an American supernatural horror film franchise consisting of four feature films, a television series, comic books, and video games.
