The English series is set early, when Napoleon is exiled on the island of Elba, following his defeat by the British at the Battle of Waterloo. The series follows a young English aristocrat who is captured and held hostage in France by Napoleon’s forces, witnessing first-hand their return to power over French society. It also stars Dame Maggie Smith as Lady Montague and Tobias Menzies as Lord Pembroke. Other cast members include Adrian Schiller as General Filingwood, Jeremy Northam as Colonel Fortescue, and Jamie Parker as Tom Courtenay (who are both loyal to King George III).
