The release date for “Agatha: Coven of Chaos“, the spin-off of the film Wanda Vision, has been delayed. This is surprising because it’s highly anticipated by fans of MCU. The series follows the titular character’s life from childhood to adulthood. Disney+ is debuting a series in which the inspiration for the name came from Marvel Comics. The Show is a continuation of WandaVision.
Kathryn Hahn, an actress, and comedian is slated to return in the new season of Transparent. Her character Agatha is yet to be revealed. Disney+ has only revealed tiny details of the plot such as Agatha’s role as a witch and tutor. The release date is also unknown. Several media outlets reported that the series, which has yet to be created, will start filming in 2021. In addition to that, Disney+ Japan recently released the MCU roster for this year, which doesn’t include Agatha so a 2023 release doesn’t appear promising.

Who is Kathryn Hahn?
In the past couple of years, Kathryn Hahn has been critically acclaimed for her role as Shelly Pfefferman on the show Transparent. The show is about a family coming to terms with the fact that their father, played by Jeffrey Tambor, is transgender. The show has won many awards such as the Golden Globes and the Writer’s Guild of America award.
Who is Agatha?
Agatha wasn’t revealed until last year in Wanda Vision. She was a teacher at the school where Wanda was being homeschooled. Unlike what you would expect a teacher to look like, Agatha is a witch who is over 100 years old. She has been present throughout some of the events in MCU such as the Battle of New York, the Sokovia Accords, and the Civil War. In Wanda Vision, she taught Wanda and Pietro Maximoff spells that they could use in the future.
Agatha likes to wear blue robes which are the color of witches. Like Scarlet Witch, her powers are not as strong as other witches and wizards. She is familiar with Pietro who helps him with his magic. Although she is a witch and familiar, Agatha doesn’t teach many spells. She refused to teach Pietro how to be a wizard because she felt that he was already too powerful. Agatha just taught the young duo new spells that they can use in the future.
First appearance of Agatha in Marvel comics?
Agatha made her first appearance in Mystic Arcana #4. She was also featured in the short comic series, Witches and Witchcraft. Wanda Vision is a prequel to the movie Wanda Vision which is a sequel to the television show, Avengers Assemble. Mystic Arcana #1 – The first comic book appeared in 1991. Agatha was just mentioned as one of many powerful beings that existed in Marvel Comics. The series Mystic Arcana was introduced by J.M. DeMatteis. In the present, Agatha is a supporting character in Avengers Assemble, and in the MCU, she serves as an antagonist to Wanda in WandaVision.

After her parents were killed by dark magic, Agatha was adopted into the Harkness family. The father, Joshua Harkness passed away when she was still a child. She is therefore brought up by her mother in a small apartment across the hall from her brother. It’s a happy life for Agatha as she has everything she could ask for until tragedy strikes again.
Release date of the series
The series is to release in 2021 according to Kathryn Hahn who confirmed that she’ll return for the series. A year later, it was revealed that Agatha’s series is not going to be released in 2022. According to a quote by the actress, it’s going to air in April 2023. The reasons why the release date is delayed by a year are unknown and Kathryn Hahn has not given any information about the purpose of this delay.
