The Last Kingdom is a British historical fiction TV series that was first broadcast on BBC One in 2015. The plot of the show follows Uhtred, son of Beorthric who is born into the nobility of Wessex, but after suffering defeat at the hands of King Alfred and subsequently 20 years as a hostage he finds himself back among his people with an entirely new identity.
