The Rookie is back for a fourth season, with the latest addition of Officer Cicely Tyson to the cast. The show follows Police Officer John Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion), who has been working in Los Angeles as a police officer for 15 years and joins the LAPD’s training academy to become an officer. Season 4 will continue to follow Nolan’s journey and his transition from cadet-in-training at the academy to become a full-fledged member of the LAPD.

ABOUT THE ROOKIE SERIES:

The Rookie TV show is based on the R.D. Witte novel The Last Newhart, and in fact, it follows a similar storyline to the 1990s series that starred Bob Newhart as Bill Hayden, an 80-year old man who finds out he has more life left than he ever knew when he begins his new career with the Los Angeles police department. The show is a crime drama that follows John Nolan, who, after 15 years of experience as an LAPD cop, decides to join the Los Angeles Police Department’s training program and quickly learns that he’ll need more than street smarts.

RELEASE DATE:

the release date has not been announced yet for the fourth season of THE ROOKIE; however, it is expected to be on screens in the year 2022.

THE PRODUCTION:

The production for THE ROOKIE SEASON FOUR begun in February 2019 and premiere on September 23, 2019. The series is set to run for ten episodes with three days per episode filming schedule. In addition, there are plans to create an after-show called “The Rookie: On the Set,” which is scheduled to air on ABC’s digital platforms.

Season four will be produced by Mark Gordon/Entertainment One Television in association with ABC Studios, where the show is filmed for recreating Los Angeles on-screen. the series is co-created and executive produced by Alexi Hawley, Mark Gordon, Nathan Fillion, Michelle Chapman.

RENEWAL STATUS:

As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding the renewal status for THE ROOKIE SEASON FIVE. However, sources close to the production are hinting towards a fifth season order in the works.

REVENUE:

the series is co-produced by Entertainment One and ABC Studios. The revenue generated from the fourth season of THE ROOKIE will be shared between these two bodies in a 60:40 ratio, respectively. The estimated revenue for THE ROOKIE SEASON FOUR is $54 million.

THE STARRING CAST:

  • Nathan Fillion will play rookie police officer John Nolan with Alyssa Diaz playing Angela Lopez (Nolan’s training officer),
  • Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey,

  • Mercedes Mason as Captain Zoe Andersen.

THE PLOT:

Nolan, a former Marine who finds himself thrust into the unpredictable world of a big city police department as he leads his group of new trainees. He must confront the reality that modern policing is not always black and white in Season Four.

The plot for THE ROOKIE SEASON FOUR will pick up at the end of a three-month time jump. Before leaving to prison, Nolan was told by his father, Craig (Charles Martin Smith), that he has an older brother who is in danger. In following through on this promise, John and Captain Andersen discover new evidence that will change the course of a murder investigation.

REVIEWS:

Reviews for the first three seasons have been mixed, with critics typically praising Fillion’s performance and criticizing everything else. Season one has a score of 61 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and season two scored 70 percent; it is unclear how critics will react to the latest installment. Despite this, The Rookie still managed decent numbers in terms of its mid-season debut, garnering a 0.62 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and just over five million total viewers with Live+Same Day numbers.

EXPECTATIONS:
