The story follows Violet Evergarden, a young girl who was left with only words after losing her arms and legs in order to save people from an explosion that occurred in wartime where she worked as a soldier under Major Gilbert Bougainvillea’s command. She goes through a series of assignments in order to become a “letter writer” – someone who can write letters for people and ease the pain that comes with reading them.
