American Gods Season 3: The Plot, The Cast, Production And More!

American Gods is a television series based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The plot follows protagonist Shadow Moon, who is released from prison and meets Mr. Wednesday after being hired as his bodyguard and becomes embroiled in a conflict between old and new gods: the traditional gods of biblical and mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity worship.

About American Gods Season 3:

The plot of the American Gods Season three is unknown. However, it has been confirmed that season three will feature a time jump to see how the New Gods are faring in America following Mr. Wednesday’s declaration of war on them. American Gods plot is still under wraps for now, so there isn’t much to say about it. After his release from prison, Shadow Moon finds himself in the employ of a mysterious conman who calls himself Mr. Wednesday and becomes embroiled in an escalating war between the Old World and the New Gods.

Release Date:

The release date for the 3rd season of American Gods has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be on screens in 2022.

Production:

Bryan Fuller and Michael Green served as showrunners, with David Slade directing the pilot episode; FM De Marco will produce for Starz. Neil Gaiman executive produces along with Craig Cegielski, Stefanie Berk, and Adam Kane.

Filming:

The filming of American Gods season three is already underway, and the cast has been busy on Instagram uploading behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

Revenue:

The first two seasons received an estimated combined total of 11 million viewers, with the season one finale reaching around three million. The first season of American Gods, which aired in 2017, had total revenue of $58 million.

Awards:

American God has been nominated for several awards since its release, including the Golden Globe Awards and Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Fantasy Series/Drama TV Series. The show has also won several awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects and Best Costumes at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys Awards.

Renewal Status:

The first two seasons of American Gods were a hit for Starz. It has been renewed up until the third season, and there is no doubt that it will be picked up again after that.

American Gods plot for Season 3:

The plot of American Gods follows protagonist Shadow Moon who is released from prison after the death of his wife, Laura. In reality, she was brutally killed by a man named Low Key Lyesmith while he was away in jail for three years. After being let out early because of good behavior, Shadow meets Mr. Wednesday, who hires him as a bodyguard. Shadow goes with Mr. Wednesday to a meeting of the Old Gods in Chicago, where he meets an ancient god named Technical Boy and two others – Media and The Black Hat Orse Tribe Leader Mr. World.

American Gods have a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 59 reviews with an average score of eight out of ten, which means that critics love it! The folks at RT said: “Neil Gaiman and Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) team up for a visually dazzling adaptation of the award-winning novel that’s as thought-provoking as it is thrilling.

Reviews:

Critical reception to American Gods’ first six episodes was mostly positive; praise went towards its cast and visuals while criticism targeted some aspects of Fuller’s changes from the source material, such as the technical aspect and narrative. American Gods, while garnering positive reviews from critics, received mixed to negative reactions from fans of Gaiman’s book for its deviations and plot changes in season one.

Expectations:

With high revenue and low production costs, the new season of American Gods is set to be popular with viewers. Considering how well-received the first two seasons were, it’s safe to say American Gods will continue for at least one more year.
