Black Panther is back in the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s most successful film of all time. The plot picks up after the events of Captain America: Civil War, with T’Challa returning home and taking his place as king following both his father’s death and Wakanda becoming a member of the international community.
RELEASE DATE:
Expectations for BLACK PANTHER 2 are high, with the movie already breaking records as it comes to theaters on February 12th, 2022. The film has been a long time in coming, and many fans cannot wait to see what Coogler does next!
THE PLOT:
The PLOT of BLACK PANTHER 2 is expected to pick up after the events seen in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, with T’Challa returning home and taking his place as king following both his father’s death and Wakanda becoming a member of the international community. His return puts him at odds with a powerful enemy who threatens to undermine his sovereignty.
The PLOT for BLACK PANTHER is not yet known, but we’re guessing it will be a follow-up on the events of the first film. There may also be some new characters introduced in this sequel as well– which would make sense since there were so many that didn’t have enough time to shine! We’ll also have to see how T’Challa’s world is impacted by the death of his father, as well as any other events that may have occurred during the first movie.
PRODUCTION:
Production on BLACK PANTHER 2 has been a long process, with filmmakers reaching out to audiences for help in recruiting actors and others to work behind the scenes. The entire team came together at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con and announced that production had finally begun! Production began in January 2020, with Ryan Coogler returning as director.
FILMING:
Filming is currently taking place around various locations, including Atlanta and Harlem. Production on the sequel will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and Cape Town, South Africa. While some of the locations used during filming for BLACK PANTHER may be revisited later this year as well (like Busan), there has been no indication yet if they’ll appear in BLACK PANTHER II.
THE STARRING CAST:
- Chadwick Boseman, Michael Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira will reprise their roles from the first film. New cast members include:
- Angela Bassett as Ramonda, T’Challa’s mother and Queen Mother of Wakanda.
- Forest Whitaker will play Zuri, a religious figure in the film.
- Jiminy Cricket
- Sterling K Brown, who plays N’Jobu (Nakia’s father) in the first film, will have a new role as T’Challa’s confidant W’Kabi.
REVIEWS:
We’re hoping for an even better sequel than the original BLACK PANTHER! If Ryan Coogler is directing again with Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa), Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger), and many more to be announced. In BLACK PANTHER, T’Challa takes his rightful place as king of Wakanda. He must now defend and lead the country into a new era in “Black Panther.”
