In the fifth film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her in a cramped L.A. apartment. The latter has a copy of the evil book, and with it, incantations that conjure unspeakable evil. When the two sisters unwittingly unleash demons from the nearby woods, they must find a way to stop them from devouring both their families.

In Get Out, he was inspired by the use of light, color, and music in creating a very dark environment which helped to create a lot of anxiety in his audience. In Carrie, he was inspired by the use of the soundtrack and sound effects together with shots that were long enough to create a lot of tension. He credited The Conjuring for teaching him how to build suspense in his scenes from small things like curtains blowing in the wind.
