It’s been 10 years since the first FAST AND FURIOUS film was released in 2006. The franchise has seen 8 films, with a ninth released in June of this year, and it doesn’t look like they’re slowing down any time soon! This post will cover what you need to know about the upcoming film.
ABOUT FAST AND FURIOUS 10:
The FAST AND FURIOUS franchise is a series of action films about street racing and heists that started back in 2006. The first film, simply titled “FAST & Furious,” was released on June 22nd, 2009, and had an international box office gross of $207 million. Based on this success, Universal Pictures gave the green light to a sequel, which was released on April 29th, 2009, and had an international box office gross of $236 million.
RELEASE DATE:
FAST AND FURIOUS TEN will be in theaters on April 7TH, 2023. The third film was released in 2011 with the title FAST AND FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT. The franchise saw continued success worldwide through 2012 when they announced plans for yet another sequel titled “FAST & FURIOUS,” which was released on May 24, 2013.
PRODUCTION:
The production of FAST AND FURIOUS TEN will be overseen by James Wan, who is also set to produce with the franchise’s co-creator and producer Neal H. Moritz. The production of the tenth installment began in October 2019, with filming taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, and New Orleans.
THE PLOT:
FAST AND FURIOUS TEN is set to take place after the events of “The Fate Of The Furious” and will see Dom having a baby with Elena. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is living happily ever after with his wife Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) and their two children when Dom turns himself over to US authorities to serve out his prison sentence so that he can be there for them. But before he goes into custody, criminals hijack one of the cars transporting him from New York City to Lompoc prison in California.
Toretto is then recruited with Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and his girlfriend, Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), to pull off one last job for the team before he goes into custody, which will lead them all over Europe on a series of chases that go from Paris to the Czech Republic. The original intention for this film, according to director F. Gary Gray and producer Neal Moritz, was to make the tenth installment a farewell to Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and Han Lue (Sung Kang). However, they later decided that it might be better if there were a sequel to the ninth film, which could continue with Brian.
