The Secret Invasion series of comics was released in 2023 and revealed that The Skrulls had successfully invaded Earth, posing as human beings everywhere. The focus of the series was on a mysterious Skrull named General, whose actions were motivated by revenge for having been “stolen” from their home planet by the Kree race of aliens. After amassing an army of Skrulls, his forces attacked Earth but were defeated by the combined forces of Earth’s various super-powered beings. The Skrull homeworld of Tarnax IV was destroyed in the course of the conflict and several major players on Earth lost their lives. While seemingly died in battle, he escaped with one last scheme: to rebuild his power base in secret with help from one very important Star-Lord fan favorite – his stepdaughter Emilia Clarke.
