Shaman King is a Japanese manga series that tells the story of Yoh Asakura, who helps dead people resolve their problems in the afterlife. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1998 to 2004 and collected into 32 bound volumes by Shueisha. It has been adapted into two anime television series produced by Xebec which aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from July 2001 to September 2002 and October 2006 to March 2008, an original video animation (OVA) released in 2005; one light novel published by Shueisha in 1999, two internet radio shows between 2007 and 2009 hosted by Animate.

Best Anime program of the year at Animage Grand Prix Award in 2001-02. Shaman King season one won the Best TV Animation Award at the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair.

The Starring Cast:

  • Yoh Asakura – The protagonist of the plot, Yoh is a laid-back and easygoing teenager who loves to goof off. His goal in life is to become Shaman King so he can marry Anna Kyoyama & start a family.
  • Anna Kyoyama – Yoh’s fiancée, she is the daughter of Mikihisa and Kino Asakura who are also on their own Shaman King quest to defeat Hao one day in order for him not to interfere with her wedding plans.
  • Manta Oyamada – A boy who believes he is a normal teenager with no spiritual strength whatsoever. Yoh’s best friend & loyal supporter, Manta will go to any extent in order for his two friends to attain their goal of becoming Shaman King.
  • Lyserg Diethel – The grandson of the founder of the Golden Dawn Society.

The Plot:

Shaman King follows the story of Yoh Asakura, a shaman who is determined to become the Shaman King. He summons Amidamaru, an 800-year old samurai warrior spirit who becomes his partner and best friend throughout their journey together on this path towards becoming Shaman king.

The plot of Shaman King begins with Yoh Asakura meeting Manta Oyamada, a weak and timid boy who becomes his friend. You also meet Anna Kyoyama, Manta’s sister. One day, an army of demons known as the “Shaman Fight” appears with the intention to destroy humanity and create their own Shaman King. The plot follows almost identical events from that of the plot of Shaman King.

Expectations:

Many fans are expecting Season two to be as high quality as the first, with a plot that can stand up against it and perhaps even go beyond what was experienced in the first series. In other words, Shaman King is expected to be a plot that is just as good, if not better than the first.
