Production:

BBC One ordered a second season of The Capture in October 2018, just four months after the first series concluded with an emotional finale that saw criminals battling for their lives and detectives trying to make sense of what happened. Filming began on location at Shepperton Studios in London last month, with production expected.

THE CAPTURE SEASON TWO PLOT:

The Capture Season two is based loosely on the infamous Hatton Garden heist, which took place in April 2015. A group of aging criminals all with a history of jewel theft decided to carry out an audacious raid on one of London’s most secure buildings and make off with millions of pounds worth of jewels.

The first series of the BBC One drama-documentary received widespread acclaim from TV critics. Reviewing for Variety magazine, Michael Idaho lauded Curran’s ability to “expertly balance the procedural with a larger sense of its social and political context,” while for the Daily Telegraph, Robert Colville wrote that it is “a triumph: original in form, ambitious in scope.”The new series will see Reece Shearsmith, Stephen Dillane, and Peter Mullan return as the investigating officers who have to find out how one of London’s most secure buildings was raided.

Plot Synopsis:

DI Fisher, Tony McLean, and the Aidensfield team are now used to working with one another. But when a body is found in an abandoned warehouse, their investigation is not so straightforward. It soon becomes clear that there were others who shared the victim’s interest in hurting others for a profit – and they’re still out there. More than 60 actors from across the UK were cast for the show in its first series, and there are no plans as yet to replace any of them; that said, a number have now left the show.

EXPECTATIONS:

The Capture season two is expected to be a dark drama with the same tone as its first series. This is because of the cast, including Shearsmith and Mullan, who have both starred in dark dramas. The Capture Season two premiered to mixed ratings, with some praising the cast and production value but criticizing it for being too dark.
